After finishing our wonderful drive through New Hampshire’s White Mountains, we made our way into Vermont. I had only been to Vermont twice before. The first time was for our first anniversary on a quick trip up from Boston to Brattleboro and the second was last summer on a trip to Burlington to visit Craig and Maggie, Brett’s brother and future sister-in-law. I was excited to be back. Vermont has so much to offer. The Green Mountains offer great recreational opportunities, the people are for-the-most-part very friendly, Lake Champlain is gorgeous and it is the home of Ben & Jerrys.
We stayed in Burlington with Craig and Maggie for three days. We enjoyed several visits downtown to Burlington, a trip to the Ben & Jerry’s Factory, and quality time with family. Lake Champlain was celebrating its 400th anniversary of being “discovered” while we were there, so there were more people than normal but it still wasn’t too crowded. We really enjoy the quirky city. Being on the lake (and we are talking a big lake) helps with Brett’s desire to be on water (although he prefers the ocean); however, being so far north doesn’t help with my desire to not freeze all winter long (as they have some pretty cold and snowy winters). But the city is very bike friendly, doing its part to be green and popular among the granola-hippie crowd.
We have enjoyed Vermont each time we visit and this occasion was no different.
Brett did not take very many pictures while we were in Vermont during this stay, so I decided to include some pictures of our visit to Burlington last year.
