Day 71 & 72 – 6/24 and 6/25
We got a late start on Wednesday heading out of Indy due to some unwritten blog posts from before the family camping trip we needed to catch up on. We wrote our posts, packed the car, said goodbye to Bolivar (our dog) and headed towards Cincinnati. If you were to draw the best route to get from Indianapolis to Ithaca, NY, it wouldn’t involve Cincinnati; however, Brett and I were so excited to go to Cincinnati.
My cousin Joel is an amazing dancer and is fortunate enough to be taking a 6 week summer course with the Cincinnati Ballet. Brett and I were lucky enough to get to visit him. He was having a blast. This was very exciting news as the first few days he was definitely a bit home sick. We took him some goodies from his parents and made sure that he was doing alright. He was definitely doing alright and his teachers were just loving him.
After Cincinnati, Brett and I headed north towards Columbus. We decided to stay at Deer Creek State Park south of Columbus. We got the tent set up, went for a walk around the campground, prepared for bed and read some of our book before falling asleep. Not long after we had laid down, it started to pour. I love to sleep in the tent when it is raining, the soft pitter patter of the rain on the tent is so very soothing to sleep to.
We finished our drive through Ohio on Thursday. We headed up to Cleveland and then over to Erie, Pennsylvania. We made our way most of the way to Ithaca, NY – our destination for Friday. It was a pleasant driving day but few pictures were taken – sorry.
You should have stopped and seen Shawna, she lives just south of Toledo.
I can’t believe you mentioned Joel’s outstanding dance ability and failed to mention where it all came from… ME of course. Ha, I will boast this forever. Especially since I know he will be big and famous. We saw Bolivar tonight, and he sends his love!
