As I do not get a chance to travel to Maine very often, when I do make the trek I usually stop and get a lobster. While we were in Bar Harbor we stopped at Stewman’s Lobster Pound for dinner. There are many great lobster joints in Bar Harbor, but Stewman’s Lobster Pound has not only great food, but a fantastic location. You eat dinner looking out over the harbor – an unobstructed view of the boat traffic.

Kate snapped this photo of me after I put on my bib and right before I dug in to my delicious Down East Lobster Experience (New England clam chowder, Maine lobster, corn, potatoes, clams and blueberry pie). It was a lot of food – luckily Kate was willing to help me eat some of it. What some people don’t understand about the typical Maine lobster experience is that while it tends to be an expensive meal – it’s usually not a cloth napkin occasion. Case and point – the bib in the photo above. Heck, the spoons in the photo below are plastic. But the food, ahh… amazing. It’s all part of the experience.
Last, but certainly not least, the blueberry pie. Yum. From the great weather to the beautiful setting and the amazing food this was truly a wonderful dinner out. We spent the rest of our evening walking around Bar Harbor poking in and out of shops before heading back to the campground in the National Park for the night.
