Ithaca is gorges

Ithaca is gorges

Day 73 - 6/26

A wonderful driving day! We stopped in Cuba this morning for gas. Brett’s always wanted to go to Cuba but he says that Cuba, New York will not count. Then there was a sign for the town of Bolivar. We considered going but it was 11 miles from the highway - we laughed though, because you have to drive through Friendship to get to Bolivar. We were surprised how many towns had parks or monuments for Simon Bolivar. It definitely made me miss my puppy and wish that he had been allowed to come with us.

We made our way to Ithaca through some rain storms and took advantage of a short break in the rain to set up our tent at Taughanook State Park. We had a nice picnic on the lake. Then we left - we returned to Ithaca for some fun. We went to Cornell University (where Brett’s grandfather, uncle and cousin attended) for a walk around campus. We found an ice cream stand and had an amazing ice cream sundae. Then we headed to the library, went for a walk around town, and enjoyed some shopping. We had dinner at Moosewoods Restaurant per Brett’s request - which was delicious!

Saturday morning before leaving we enjoyed the three sets of waterfalls in Taughanook State Park - it was fantastic to see the three areas along the same river produce such diverse waterfalls. We had a great morning hike before heading to Cooperstown!
