Day 61 - 6/14 -
We drove from the campground at Grand Teton National Park down into Jackson, Wyoming. Along the way, we stopped as there was a bear along the side of the road. The bear was brown colored but it was a black bear not a grizzly. At the campground they had given me a half piece of paper explaining the differences between the bears and noting that color alone would not determine which bear it was as black bears are black, brown, tan and blond. The other way to tell the bears apart was the hump on the grizzly’s back and the length of the claws; and I hope to never be close enough to need that information.
After stopping in at the library, shopping and walking around town, we headed north back into the park as the overcast sky was beginning to open up and small bursts of blue skies were peaking through.
The views and the weather kept improving as we ate lunch at the Teton-Glacier overlook. We had a fantastic day driving around Grand Teton NP and enjoy the amazing scenery.
Mid-afternoon we headed East. Our goal was to make it close to but not past Casper, WY. The campground that Brett had picked to stay at for the night was full by the time we got there, so we headed to the Walmart down the street and set up shop. Brett was unsure how he felt about sleeping at a Walmart until we got to the back of the lot where we found 7 RVs, one of which was parked diagonally, with its legs downs and bump outs extended. Not feeling bad about taking up one space compared to the RV’s seven or eight, we rearranged the car, put up the curtains and crawled in for bed.
