Day 54 - 6/7 - We awoke today to sunshine. We haven’t had a lot of sunshine in the past month while we have ventured along the coast and were super thrilled to have a sunshiny day. We were in such a good mood that we picked up a hitch hiker - our first on the trip. We were in Olympic National Park and headed his direction. I rearranged a few things in the back seat to make room for our guest. He is a lawyer from France whose US employment contract ended and is traveling the Western US before heading back to France. It was day 15 of his journey and we were happy to help him along his way - even though it was only 30 miles before our paths split. His English was pretty good but not excellent and he didn’t understand something that I said so Brett translated in French and boy was he happy to have someone who spoke French. He and Brett went back and forth - I have no idea what was said. We parted ways at the turn off for La Push where Brett and I headed back to the Pacific to enjoy the sunshine at Rialto Beach.
The beach was similar to Ruby Beach in that it was rocky with tons of driftwood and sea stacks off the shore. It was wonderful feeling the sun on my face. We stayed for a while and had a picnic as well. When I was finally ready to give up the beach, we headed inland to Lake Crescent. I learned at a roadside placard that Lake Crescent is a glacial lake. It is 600+ feet deep and crystal clear. It was an absolutely gorgeous area and we kept pulling over to enjoy the views (and because the Yankees game kept cutting out while we were moving).
We drove into Port Angeles on the north side of the Olympic peninsula for internet, groceries and dinner. We drove out to Bainbridge Island - which is only a short ferry ride from Seattle - and set up camp from the night. It was an amazingly cute campground, probably Brett’s favorite of the trip. There were only four other families at the campground which was nice. We looked out over Puget Sound and enjoyed watching the sailboats go by. We were blessed with a fantastic sunset which topped off the good day.

The picture of the 2 of you watching the sunset reminds me of a commercial I have seen on TV. (HA HA) All the pictures are Beautiful. I love seeing the world through your travels.
