Days 64 and 65 - 6/17 & 6/18 -
Wednesday was a driving/productive day. We made our way into Sioux Falls, South Dakota on I-90 E and switched over to I-29 S. At the intersection of South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska at Sioux City, we found a laundromat and a library. Several hours later we had clean clothes and several posts ready to go out. When we wrapped up at the library, we jumped back on I-29 S and made our way toward I-80 E which will carry us from the Nebraska/Iowa border all of the way into Indiana. We were able to get all of our Southbound driving miles in today and will head due East tomorrow.
Thursday morning we hopped on I-80 and headed East. We continued East all day long. We crossed Iowa and then Illinois and then entered Indiana. It was the longest driving day of our trip - 12 hours of straight driving and 560+ miles covered - but it moved us along toward our surprise so we are not complaining too loudly.
Iowa and even part of Illinois were rolly. I wouldn’t call it hilly because they were certainly not big hills - but it wasn’t flat like I expected it to be. We encountered a decent amount of road construction, which to this point, we had been rather fortunate enough to have avoided for the most part. But, we made it through and spent the night Thursday night at a campground in Northwestern Indiana.
It was a great surprise seeing you at the Mennel Camping trip!!
