The Bright Lights And Heat Of Las Vegas

The Bright Lights And Heat Of Las Vegas

Our time in Las Vegas, Nevada this time around was much more laid back than a typical Las Vegas experience. We decided to take it slow and walk, that we weren’t in a hurry. We didn’t go to any shows or spend hours at the tables. We were just out to soak all of the glitz and glam in. We were pacing ourselves - this was day 26 of our road trip and we needed to survive to see California, after all. Above is the hustle and bustle of the lobby at the Bellagio.

We spent most of our time in Las Vegas walking around. Lots and lots of walking. Through Paris Hotel and Casino, MGM Grand, New York New York, Bellagio, Caesar’s and lots of places in between. At the end of the day we had walked 12.5 miles, our feet were quite sore and tired. The casinos that we did stop at we gambled a dollar in. Sometimes the penny slot machines, sometimes the nickel slots. It varied. At New York New York we got lucky and won $15.00. We promptly cashed out and walked away. The photo above is the garden inside the Bellagio where there were lots of tulips in bloom.

Before catching the shuttle back to the car and heading out to Red Rock Canyon State Park to camp for the night we watched the volcano erupt at the Mirage and the fountains dance at the Bellagio. A great way to end a fun day. Above you can see the ‘Eiffel Tower’ of the Paris Hotel and Casino in the background, it’s a replica of the real thing. A bit kitschy, but that’s Vegas for you.
