On Saturday, Brett and I had a very exciting telephone interview with a sailboat owner in San Francisco who is going to be embarking upon a journey around the world in March 2009. His plans are not cemented yet in terms of exact dates or exact routes but this is the basic idea: Brett and I will join him for his trip around the world. The three of us will live on the 41′ sailboat for a few years as we navigate around the world, enjoying its sites, its seas and its surprises.

This is exactly the kind of opportunity that I have dreamed of finding. Brett has wanted to sail around the world and although I have been searching for awhile for opportunities - I didn’t think that it would be possible for us to do - at least not at this point in our journey. But it may be coming true! We had a very nice talk with Rob, the sailboat owner, on Saturday and he has invited us out to San Francisco in January to meet him, to stay on the sailboat, and to give things a try. We will take one or two day sailing trips as we need to make sure that I can handle the open sea. We will discuss plans and routes and everything else while we are out there.

We have never been to San Francisco and even though I am very very very hopeful that things work out and that we get to sign on to travel around the world with Rob, I am excited to see San Francisco as well. I am excited to pass under the Golden Gate Bridge in a sailboat. Hell, I am excited to see the Golden Gate Bridge. I am excited to go on a day sail off the coast of California (I have never been to California before.) I am excited about meeting such a fascinating guy. I am hopeful that this works out and that we are able to embark upon this journey with Rob.
