Focused Planning

Focused Planning

Brett and I have made it a habit to make the week of Thanksgiving a time to reconnect with each other before the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. We reflect on the current year that is beginning to come to a close and make some goals for the upcoming year. We spend time together and enjoy a relaxing week before the craziness of the Christmas shopping and Holiday parties and whatnot get underway in full force. In 2004 we celebrated in Massachusetts, 2005 we took a trip to Panama, 2006 we celebrated on a beach in Ecuador, and 2007 we saw the touristy side of Indianapolis. This year we opted to have some time for focused planning.

After announcing our intention to embark on our adventure earlier than originally anticipated back in July, we have had some time, but only minimal time, to research where and when and what and how. We have made minimal progress and for those who know me, I do not do very well with minimal accomplishments. We have made a lot of progress this week on the website (luckily you cannot see today as you read this what the site looked like five days before I wrote this - yuck).

We are approaching the end of this week of planning and are no where close to a decision nor ready to leave. We enjoyed spending time with family - Thursday at Grandma’s for lunch followed by an afternoon at Sarah’s and Friday at Mom and Dad’s decorating for Christmas and kicking off the Christmas season with our annual viewing of Love Actually.

It was an overall productive week and I am sad that Brett has to go back to work on Monday. He has several more weeks at work before giving notice so that we can embark on this adventure. My working days are over. Come Monday, my routine starts at home. Things in the real estate market here in Indiana have slowed to a snail’s pace. Someone needed to be let go - and knowing that I will only be around for a few more months at most, made the decision to be the one to be let go easy to make.

I am excited about the planning to be accomplished in the upcoming days and weeks. Watch out world - plans are going to be made!
