Looking For: Crew Positions

While looking into crew positions, I came across many bad sites. Not wanting to waste time on drawing attention to the sites that lack valid, current opportunities, I have included a list below of sites that had average to above-average opportunities.

Findacrew.net
This site is by far my favorite site for crew seekers. It allows you to search the posts in a variety of ways so that you do not waste time looking through posts that are not suited to what you are looking for. However, the contact information is hidden from non-subscribers. You are able to create a free account and send a scripted email to boat owners (limit of 11 emails per day) – however you cannot write a personalized email. Boat owners simply reply back Yes or No. You are able to create a free profile and the boat owners are free to search for you and contact you. In order to gain access to boat owner contact information, you must subscribe. Subscription prices are steep.

7knots.com
This site allows the boat owner to post their contact information, including website or blog for interested individuals to review prior to writing them. Their contact information is visible to non-subscribers (unless they have it set to private). Crew seeker is able to sort by departure date.

Floatplan.com
This site also allows the boat owner to post their contact information; however the site is not sortable and not very pretty – but there are a decent amount of posts.

Crew4Crew.net
This site is free but requires you to subscribe. The opportunities are paid but require experience for 99% of them.
