Isla Taboga, Panama

Isla Taboga, Panama

Thanksgiving week of 2005, Brett and I traveled to Panama. We spent a few days in Panama City and really enjoyed our time in Casco Viejo jumping in and out of little souvenir shops and wandering around the small winding streets. We also traveled to the Miraflores Locks on the canal. But, without a doubt, the favorite part of the trip for both Brett and myself was the three days we spent on Isla Taboga.

Taboga is a small island off the western coast of Panama. After a short ferry ride from Panama City, you arrive at what could easily be described as paradise. Soft, sandy beaches plus a leafy green rain forest nature preserve accentuate the brightly colored houses in this small village. Laying in the hammock overlooking the bay watching the large container ships sail in and out of the Panama Canal was how part of this stress-free vacation was spent. We also walked the sandy beaches collecting coral, shells and colored glass.

It was a great trip and we would love to go back. We stayed at a vacation rental house that was in the process of being opened and we would love to see how it turned out.
