There were many culinary experiences during our week in Montreal, only a few of which are worth mentioning. We found an amazing crepe restaurant - Paris Crepe - right on Saint Catherine’s Street, that was just incredible. Great lighting, atmosphere, amazing view, and the crepes: incroyable! I rediscovered my love of
Nutella. What a concept. There is a display case and counter with menus (in French and English, I ordered in French, it’s much more fun that way) on the first floor, and a cooking area where you can watch your delicious concoction prepared. Upstairs is a sitting area with windows that look out over Saint Catherine’s Street. The second night we went (yes, it was that good) there was a street fair going on and it was incredible to take in all of the sights, sounds and smells of a warm summer evening in Montreal.
I’m a vegetarian, and have been for just over five years now. Every day is an adventure when you’re a vegetarian. Reading labels and menus, scanning for dirty words that do not exist in your vocabulary. Well, during our time in Montreal Kate discovered a vegetarian restaurant that looked too good to pass up. So one day for lunch while we were out walking around we stopped in at Le Commensal, which is a vegetarian buffet-style restaurant. Everything is paid for by the pound, and everything is 100% vegetarian. Utopia! Et en francais!! A-ma-zing tofu, great salads, and wonderful desserts. It was really a treat. These establishments are few and far between, so I make sure to take advantage of them while I can.
Bon appetit!
