We had a wonderful vacation in Burlington, VT and Montreal. It was absolutely wonderful for Brett to be able to tell his parents and brother the news of our departure face-to-face on a cruise around Lake Champlain. They are excited for us - and it appears, a little nervous as well.
We really enjoyed seeing Burlington and the glimpse into Craig & Maggie’s lives there. If we decide to settle in the States again, Burlington will be toward the top of the list. From Burlington we took the ferry across Lake Champlain to NY and then the train up to Montreal. We had a wonderful time in Montreal. We rented an apartment for the week and saw a lot of the city. Unfortunately English is much more widely used than we had hoped - and the French I had learned did not get much use.
When we returned, we had lists waiting for us from our REALTORS - my sister and father. The lists included items around the house that they recommended us do before going on the market, some rearranging of furniture to help the staging of house, etc. We completed the list two weeks later and went on the market on Sunday 8/17.
We hadn’t originally planned on going on the market until October or November - but with Down Payment Assistance going away October 1st - the timetable got moved up. Our listing went active Sunday evening - around 9 pm. Monday evening we had our first showing and Tuesday the offer arrived. We accepted the full-price offer and are scheduled to close 9/17.
We are so excited and so thankful to my dad and sister for their help. With the market the way it is right now, we didnt know how much of a loss we would have to take to sell the house in the timeframe we were looking at. Instead we are coming out ahead and will close with plenty of time to beat the October 1st deadline. We couldn’t be happier!
